Many people talk themselves out of stretching before they even start. It’s not that they want to miss out on feeling better. It’s because taking time out of the day to do yoga can, understandably, feel daunting or just plain time-consuming. Even a 10-minute practice becomes overwhelming when you’re super stressed.

But it doesn’t have to take as much time as you think to start feeling relief in your body. This 3-minute yoga class for beginners does the job. There are no complicated poses or transitions. It’s just simple  guided moves that anyone can follow. It’s a quick full-body stretch that allows you to show up exactly as you are—even when you’re low on motivation and energy.

3-Minute Basic Yoga Routine for Beginners (or Literally Anyone)

You can practice these stretches first thing in the morning before the day takes over, in the middle of your workday, the second you shut your laptop after work, or even before bed. After just three minutes, notice whether you feel a little more at ease in your body.

1. Neck Stretch

3. Revolved Head to Knee Pose

From sitting cross-legged, keep your right leg bent and straighten your left leg out to the side. Slowly bend your upper body over your left leg, leaning your chest toward your toes and reaching your left hand for your shin or thigh. Turn your chest toward the right in Revolved Head-to-Knee Pose. Reach your right arm toward the ceiling, then over your left leg. Take a few breaths here.

4. Head to Knee Pose

From Revolved Head to Knee Pose, face your shoulders toward your left leg and place your hands on the mat on either side of your leg. Round your back as you lean forward over your leg and allow your head and neck to relax in Head to Knee Pose. Take a few breaths here.

Repeat Revolved Head to Knee Pose and Head to Knee Pose on the opposite side.
